At Blooming Minds, we believe that every child blooms differently and in their own time. We seek to facilitate growth through parent consultations and trainings, individual services, and group classes. We strive to create a neurodiversity-affirming and inclusive education environment for all kids and their families. Every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, so we focus on building positive, caring relationships to help your child grow and thrive.
We believe in creating unique and transformative learning experiences. Our approach is kid-centered, play-based and focused on developing a safe and comfortable environment for kids to grow.
Our services start with a free 15 minute consultation. We listen to your goals and provide information about which services would be appropriate to support you.
Sara always wanted to be a teacher when she grew up and loves building relationships with students and watching them grow. Sara grew up in a family that promoted education from a young age. She spent many hours in early childhood learning and playing with her Grandpa, a lifelong teacher. Sara's mom and sister are also Special Educators which provides of a source of continued inspiration and support. Sara grew up outside Chicago in a rural town of Dekalb, Illinois. She goes back frequently to visit her family, the lakes, and the cold. Sara currently lives in the Bay Area with her pets and likes to explore Northern California.
A Midwest girl at heart, Sara attended undergraduate and graduate school in Wisconsin where she earned a Bachelor's in History, Women and Gender Studies and Dance and a Master's Degree in Special Education.
After attending Carthage College, Sara started working as a para professional in 2016 where she developed transformative relationships with students. In 2018, Sara started graduate school at Edgewood College and her first year teaching. During her first three years teaching in Madison, Wisconsin, Sara quickly learned to manage the many responsibilities of a special educator.
Working in the Madison area, Sara worked in the general education classroom with students who came from a wide range of backgrounds and had varying levels of needs. Sara's work in Madison focused on creating spaces for students to thrive and be included with their peers. She also gained valuable experience immersed in the general education classroom where she was able to see the benefits of targeted supports for all students.
In Fall 2021, Sara started teaching in an Autism Intensive classroom in the Bay Area. This was a self-contained alternative setting for a small group of extremely high-needs students with ASD. Sara loved having the flexibility and freedom to set the tone and materials for the classroom. Her work focused on developing highly individualized materials and solutions for students and their families.
In Fall 2023, Sara started Blooming Minds Learning. She opened the first location in Cupertino in the spring of '24.
